20 Hit Horror Movies NOBODY Saw Coming

The current micro-budget indie horror boom is showing no signs of slowing down if the recent success of Alexander Ullom's feature debut It Ends is any indication.

Ullom's horror-thriller about a road trip gone awry was produced for just $80,000 and, following a premiere at SXSW 2025, spent most of last year enjoying a healthy festival run.

Last December, it made its PVOD debut on Letterboxd's new video rental service, yet despite this seemingly being the end of its theatrical story, it was subsequently acquired by Neon and given a limited release back in August.

While it would be disingenuous to say that It Ends lit up the box office, it did manage to gross $1.1 million - more than 13 times its budget. 

This is all the more impressive considering it was only theatrically released in three countries, its widest North American release was just five cinemas, and it was already widely circulated online due to its prior PVOD release.
