4. The Thrilling Action Sequences

Tag Jeremy Renner
Warner Bros.

Though Tag is a comedy movie through-and-through, the nature of the premise allows director Jeff Tomsic to deliver some genuinely kinetic, stylish and outrageously entertaining action sequences.

The majority of the film's set-pieces are slow-motion, Sherlock Holmes-esque fight scenes in which Jerry ingeniously evades his tag-happy pals, who naturally end up humiliated by their improbably elusive pal.

Renner's slick physicality juxtaposed with the less-finessed abilities of his co-stars make these scenes both hilarious and legitimately thrilling, adding a neat wrinkle to a film that could've easily just coasted on its charming cast and one-liners.

It doesn't take this as far as it could - there were so many more action-packed possibilities - but the mayhem we get is pretty damn fun.
