Tag Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

5. It's Surprisingly Sweet & Heart-Warming

Tag 2018

Though there are aforementioned tonal shifts that don't really hit the mark, there is an unexpected, underlying sweetness to the movie that actually works incredibly well.

At the end of the day, Tag is about a group of friends whose friendship becomes defined by the game, which keeps them grounded and in constant contact with one another.

It's a clever way to spin a unique riff on the usual male bonding we see in bromantic comedies, and though the movie certainly has its issues, its heart is undeniably in the right place throughout.

If nothing else, it'll probably make you want to start your own game of tag with your pals.
