Taylor Swift & Amanda Seyfried Offered Roles in LES MISERABLES

Taylor Swift and Amanda Seyfried have reportedly been offered roles in Les Miserables, the star-studded musical that marks Oscar winning The King's Speech director Tom Hooper's follow-up film. According to Twitch who have been pressing their sources, Swift would play Eponine and Seyfried would portray Cosette if they agree to Universal's offer. Swift, an American country pop singer-songwriter has emerged favourite to play Eponine after beating out early candidates that auditioned including Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood. She has little acting experience with only the romantic comedy Valentine's Day and a one episode gig on CSI to her name but obviously she can sing and Hooper clearly believes that to be the most important trait to the role. It should be noted the film itself won't use voice doubles for the signing parts. Her inclusion at this stage appears to be whether scheduling can be worked out as she is due to tour Australia and New Zealand in March, the same month filming will begin. Seyfried, who is a trained opera singer and put her impressive lungs to good use in Mamma Mia a few years ago is favourite to play the daughter of Fantine (played by Anne Hathaway). Seyfried will move to Les Miserables after finishing up the porn biopic Lovelace. The duo join an amazing cast that includes Hugh Jackman (as Valjean), Oscar winner Russell Crowe (Inspector Jalvert), Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush (as Thenardier), Oscar nominated Anne Hathaway (Fantine) and last year€™s Oscar nominated Helena Bonham Carter (as Madame Thenardierare). Sacha Baron Cohen (Monsieur Thenardier) and Eddie Redmayne (Marius) are also on board. Two time Oscar nominee William Nicholson (Gladiator, Shadowlands) wrote the screenplay. Les Miserables is due in theaters at the end of the year on December 7th, 2012 so Hooper must now go into a higher gear with his casting and secure these final roles before filming begins in the Spring
