The best Turtles movie yet.
In a summer that's seen so many franchise movies sputter out and underwhelming critically and/or commercially, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans can rest easy that the beloved IP isn't the latest casualty on the chopping block.
The first TMNT movie since 2016's live-action sequel Out of the Shadows flopped at the box office, Mutant Mayhem is a major breath of fresh air for the series on the big screen.
Propelled by the comedic stylings of co-writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, this is a goofy fun time which at once has a clear love of TMNT as a property while also giving it an update for contemporary audiences.
Sure, not everything here will absolutely hit for older fans, but given the wildly inconsistent quality of the Turtles movies over the last three-plus decades, it's refreshing to see one that succeeds without too many caveats.
Whether you're a die-hard Turtles fan or a parent aiming to entertain their kids for a few hours, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem is one of the summer's most pleasant surprises so far.
