7. The GORGEOUS Animation

Though it goes without saying that Mutant Mayhem owes a debt to the eye-popping visual style of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it'd also be unfair to say that this movie is merely co-opting that film's unique aesthetic to its own ends.

Much like last year's Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Mutant Mayhem adopts a heightened, surrealist style inspired by Into the Spider-Verse, with characters typically moving at lower framerates than the environments surrounding them.

But like the Puss in Boots sequel, it also has its own distinct artistic flourishes, namely a beautiful painterly style which helps it stand apart from its most obvious influence.

From first shot to last, this is a terrific looking movie and one of the most visually vibrant animations of the last few years, skillfully giving the familiar TMNT palette an adventurous new lick of paint.
