In addition to the inherently terrific animation, the action sequences throughout Mutant Mayhem are slick, stylish, and memorable.

Animation can capture the physicality of the Turtles in a way that live-action - or "realistic" CGI - simply never can, which combined with this movie's highly stylised visuals, allow the set-pieces to really pop.

The finale, an amusingly over-the-top homage to classic creature features, is the easy highlight, refreshingly pushing the bar content-wise in some of its more grotesque moments, enough that it may not be suitable for the very youngest of viewers.

Above all else, director Rowe absolutely nails the fluid kineticism of the Turtles as warriors, delivering without question the best Turtles action in cinematic form to date.
