Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows Review – 2 Ups And 3 Downs

2. Story Told Very Straight And Blandly

Being a product, there€™s very little that could be called €œadventurous€ in Out Of The Shadows, especially when it comes to the story.

Like the original we€™re consistently told what€™s going to happen before the characters figure out - either through scenes where the villain€™s plan€™s laid out like it€™s a video game cutscene or the heroes perfectly guessing exactly what the baddies are up to. This seems to be so that we can more efficiently get into the action, but the real upshot is that the story€™s told in an incredibly straightforward fashion. And, because there€™s so many characters to set-up, it€™s already a very basic narrative when you break it down.

To cap it all off, the Turtles' internal conflict €“ there€™s two character subplots, one about the potential of being human, the other of them working as a team €“ is rather rote and develops almost unrelated to the main story.
