With the recent news that the fifth entry in the Terminator franchise is pressing forward for a June 26th, 2015 release date, and is intended as the first entry in a new trilogy, the Internet has been abuzz wondering what the film will be about, who will direct, and of course, who will star. Given how the franchise started out with two instant classics of the action genre before going the tepid route with the third and fourth non-James Cameron efforts, it's safe to say that something bold and drastic will need to emerge from T5 if it is to reclaim the series' good name. If T5 fails, then the balance of the franchise will be tipped more in favour of disappointment than awesomeness. There are about a billion different ways the new Terminator trilogy could go, and here are just a few pointers the producers should follow in order to ensure it's going to work this time (as Terminator Salvation was originally planned to start a new trilogy)...
10. Justin Lin To Direct
It was first announced around two years ago (after the release of Fast Five) that Justin Lin was being courted as the director for Terminator 5, and given how adept Lin had proven himself at shooting car chases and action sequences, the response to this news was generally positive. However, it appears now that Lin is only working with producers as a consultant, helping them to find a suitable director, reportedly because of his decision to shoot Fast and Furious 6 instead. Does this make sense, though? Lin's business with the Fast and Furious franchise has been done for months; given that Terminator 5 isn't planning to shoot until January, would that not give him ample time to go through the pre-production process? It's not like the director has anything else on his slate at the moment, and what director
