Even accepting how nostalgia-heavy this movie is, the series has always enjoyed recalling some of the iconic dialogue from the first film in particular.

Dark Fate takes this to near-parodic levels with its numerous invocations of one-liners from the original two classics.

Grace (Mackenzie Davis) amusingly tweaks the usual "come with me if you want to live" to "come with me or you're dead meat in 30 seconds," while in a more cringe-worthy moment, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) quips, "I'll be back," after nonchalantly dropping a grenade.

In a neat third-act twist on the catchphrase, though, Carl tells his partner and stepson that he won't be back, and elsewhere Carl speaks of the mission's "probability of success" several times, which Arnie's various Terminators talked about extensively in the second and third movies.

Villainous Terminator Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) also gets in on the nostalgia, for when he asks two cops, "Say, do you know where I can get my hands on a chopper?," the delivery and intonation is clearly a nod to T2's T-1000 (Robert Patrick) telling a cop, "Say, that's a nice bike."

And finally, Grace wholesale repeats the "no fate but what we make" spiel to Dani after revealing that she is in fact the new resistance leader herself, rather than the mother of the person who will be.
