Terminator: Dark Fate Review - 5 Ups & 5 Downs

1. It Makes Good Use Of Its R Rating

It's probably not much of a coincidence that Dark Fate is the first R-rated Terminator film since T3 and also the best Terminator film since T3.

And somewhat unexpectedly, Miller takes a fairly restrained approach to adult content, given the tendency for filmmakers to use an R rating as carte blanche to overuse profanity, gore and nudity.

But swearing is fairly infrequent throughout the film and generally justified by the context, while the gore is mostly reserved for Rev-9's brutal attacks, and feels appropriately impactful as a result.

Given the obvious temptation there must've been to wear the adult rating on its sleeve, this was a far smarter approach.
