Terminator: Dark Fate Trailer 2 Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs

2. It's Still A Little Too Colourful
The first two Terminator films boasted an aesthetic that heavily encouraged that overall feel of terror that they were trying to instil us with. From the black night that drowned out all the neon colours of the '80s in The Terminator, to the eternally blue hue of T2, both films were adventurous with their colour palette in a way that managed to complement the thrilling stories they told.
Dark Fate, for the most part, still struggles with its identity in the visuals department. Sure, there's plenty of action-packed scenes in this new trailer that are undoubtedly reminiscent of those from previous Terminator movies but, other than a callback to Sarah, John and the T-800's time at Enrique's in T2, much of the film still looks like a modern-day blockbuster.
Now, from what the trailer suggests, the film is as close to T1 and T2 as any of the subsequent sequels have ever come in terms of story and action (though it's still a long way off), so it would be nice if the final product also found its own way to be as aesthetically-pleasing as those two films.
