Terminator isn't just a movie franchise - The Sarah Connor Chronicles ran for two seasons in 2008 and 2009, providing continuity-bending action years ahead of Genisys. And, although most of the film's references are concerned with the movies, there is one nod to the TV series. When they travel to 2017, Kyle and Sarah materialise in the middle of a highway, just like John and Sarah do near the end of the show's pilot.
