18. The Retro Nods

The film has clearly taken great pains to set up the timeline as the same one as shown in the first Terminator movies. We get shots of the same department store that features in Terminator and the same stalking feel of its sequel, and the cop shot feels like another like-for-like nod to that film, despite the trailer setting up the destination as in the original Terminator timeline. Clearly, something is off in this version of the timeline.
