The Batman: 10 Predictions For Where Matt Reeves Could Take The Franchise

1. A Series Of Time Jumps

Reeves is doing something very unexpected with The Batman by having this story very specifically take place in "Year Two," and looking ahead to the future, it seems likely the director will continue visiting specific points in the Dark Knight's career as a vigilante.

There's absolutely no reason for the sequel to take place immediately after the events of this movie, and it could instead jump forward to a completely different year. It could be "Year Five" or "Year Eight," for example, picking up with a far more experienced Batman who has been hardened by years of fighting some of his most dangerous foes.

This would be a neat way of advancing the stories of other characters too, exploring what it means for Batman to become an established crime-fighter in Gotham City.

Heading down this route seems like something Reeves could do, especially after his Planet of the Apes movies jumped to very specific points in the life of Caesar. This is also perhaps the best possible way to take a deep dive into Batman's life in Gotham City without Pattinson being signed up for ten or more movies Marvel Studios-style.
