1. Even The Riddler Knows They Are The Same
Throughout the story, Batman is tasked with figuring out The Riddler’s clues to stop his killings. From looking at the scenario, it looks like The Riddler is challenging Batman and the police to stop him, leaving clues for arrogance’s sake. But when The Riddler is captured, it turns out he assumed that Batman had been his ally.
He was leaving clues for Batman to direct him where to go and what to do. The riddler does not have the brawn, so he relied on Batman on the fighting part of the mission. When The Riddler shoots someone after Batman brings him to the very spot, he assumed Batman puts him there because he figured out the clue that he needed to put the person there for The Riddler to kill.
The Riddler thinks they are the same and are on the same team. He wrongfully thinks who better understands his cause than the person who inspired him to become a mass murderer to begin with.
