The Batman: Dream Casting Matt Reeves' New Trilogy

1. Batman - Ryan Gosling

While Gyllenhaal is very publicly being talked up as the favourite to replace Ben Affleck, Ryan Gosling would be a better option - particularly for Bruce Wayne.

There's an almost intangible otherness about Gosling - a James Dean-like coolness - that makes him feel a little alien and detached. It can be used to make him seem alouf or removed (as in La La Land initially and Blue Valentine particularly) and it sits alongside his mor conventional charisma (see Crazy, Stupid Love).

He could fit the physical rquirements of Batman easily too, but it's his potential to play Wayne, hiding his secret ideentity, that really appeals. And that's something that the DCEU simply failed to explore.
