The Batman: Ending Explained

A parting shot sees Batman and Catwoman riding the same road before taking forks to the left and right. One leads to Bludhaven, and the other right back into the hornet's nest that is Gotham. Here, Kyle is presented as someone who would choose being by Wayne's side if he was only willing to let her in just a little more.

It's powerful (if a little literal with the whole fork in the road thing).

This scene leaves things open for Catwoman to return in the next movie - she isn't gone for good, let's be honest about it. Zoƫ Kravitz' performance as the twin Kyle/Cat combo was far too strong for Reeves to discard her after one appearance. She'll be back, and that's a positive.

For now, The Batman leaves Selina Bludhaven bound. She needs to get out of Gotham, and wants Bruce to come with her. That, as examined on the previous page, was just never going to happen. Wayne is dedicated, rightly or wrongly, to Gotham's people, and he's determined to rid the criminal menace that has blighted the place for too long.

That losing battle is something Kyle explores herself before leaving the Bat's side. She's a bit miffed that he'd forgo any kind of future with her (even a short-term one) in favour of mixing it with undesirables and bravely trying to fix a mess made by his father, Falcone, The Penguin, The Riddler and others.

Until next time, Catwoman.
