8. The Riddler (Confirmed)
Batman's rogue gallery is unlike any other, in that there are literally so many to choose from. Reeves is certainly taking more than his fair share for The Batman, including several of the biggest names there is. While the Joker may be the top of the Dark Knight's enemies list, the Riddler isn't far behind.
Played by Jim Carrey with all his trademark eccentricity in Batman Forever, and portrayed for five seasons in Gotham by Cory Michael Smith, there has been no shortage of live action Riddler in the past.
When Jonah Hill was rumoured to be all but confirmed as appearing in this movie, one of the potential characters he could have played was Edward Nigma. However, after the 21 Jump Street actor pulled out, the role was given to Paul Dano. Though perhaps not as well known as the rest of the confirmed cast for the The Batman, Dano has had roles in 12 Years a Slave and Looper, before appearing next to Daniel Radcliffe in Swiss Army Man.
When the casting was announced by Matt Reeves on Twitter, he curiously used #EdwardNashton. This was the character's name before he changed it to Nygma in the comics, so could we be in for something of a Riddler origin story in 2021?
