If you're a young(ish) actor these days who hasn't been in a comic book movie (or even just not in a good one), you're bound to face the question of whether you will and who you'd like to play. Given Batman's apparent availability and Ryan Gosling not having played a comic book movie character, it's inevitable that he'd face that particular question.

Gosling responded to Variety's question by saying he'd only do it if Damien Chazelle made a Batman movie (which would be GREAT) and naturally that made him a rumoured Affleck replacement too.

And the Chazelle link is part of the reason it's such a good idea: Gosling has played two characters driven by singular desires that threaten to destroy them because it's their calling (in La La Land and First Man) and that would work with Bruce Wayne too. On top of that, he's already been given the superhero treatment by Nicolas Winding Refn in Drive and Only God Forgives (which both went heavy on mythology building and less on pure performance) and that too works for the Dark Knight.

If you're not excited by the idea of him playing Batman, you're not paying enough attention.
