The New 52 may be considered something of a divisive moment for Batman fans, but if there's one thing most will agree on it's that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Court of Owls saga was superb.

Focusing on Batman and his allies uncovering a centuries-long conspiracy involving assassination and political corruption, Court of Owls not only managed to distract readers from the numerous continuity mishaps going on at the time, but also ended up contributing a valuable story to Batman's history.

For those not in the know, the Court of Owls are a villainous cabal that have resided in Gotham since the city's founding in the nineteenth century. In the ensuing years, they built up and consolidated their power by assassinating numerous opponents through the use of 'Talons', who were specially selected operatives picked to carry out their dirty work.

The story saw Batman uncovering the conspiracy in true detective fashion, but there was an added element of psychological horror thrown in for good measure too. Ensuring both are brought to the big screen would add two brand-new elements we haven't seen in Batman's films.
