The Batman Movie: 10 Comics Matt Reeves NEEDS To Adapt

1. Batman And The Monster Men

Matt Wagner's Batman and the Monster Men is, like pretty much every other Batman story mentioned thus far, a spectacular tale. It features his signature art, and Wagner's understanding of the character is second-to-none, with the story itself set in between Year One and the Man Who Laughs, the latter of which detailed the Dark Knight's first encounter with the Joker.

The whole story revolves around the Caped Crusader's first encounter with quote-unquote "supervillains", with the titular Monster Men filling the antagonistic role for the majority of the book.

Now, Reeves has already stated that 'The Batman' will feature a Rogues Gallery, so we can assume that several of Batman's more notable villains may have a part to play in the film, but that doesn't entirely rule out the director addressing the idea of Batman coming to terms with his own presence inviting the challenge of deadlier - and more eccentric - opponents.

Besides, Monster Men is a truly stunning book, and fits perfectly into the timeframe of a younger Batman going about, doing his business. It might not be as famous as the two tales it's sandwiched in between, but may possible be the best of the lot.
