The Best Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

2. Goldfinger: Laser Scene

Daniel Craig Casino Royale
MGM

This one is absolutely iconic and in spite of how often it's been parodied, it's lost none of its impact.

This scene, in which Bond is strapped to a table with a deadly laser slowly moving to cut him in half - starting with his manhood, no less - remains an absolute masterclass in suspense. Bond has rarely looked so powerless and as the laser gets closer and closer and Bond's attempts to talk main villain Auric Goldfinger keep failing, the scene becomes absolutely palm-sweating, edge-of-your-seat viewing.

Bond does eventually talk Goldfinger out of killing him and at the moment when Goldfinger deactivates the laser, you'll probably near-collapse with relief.

Not only is this a terrifyingly tense moment, but it has some of the best acting Sean Connery ever did as Bond. He rarely, if ever, looked more vulnerable and terrified, but just as Bond would he tries to hide this beneath a cool exterior.

So, what could possibly be better than this golden, legendary scene?
