1. Its Links To Cloverfield Will Divide Fans

Fans should certainly temper their expectations if they're hoping for the film to have major, intimate links to either prior Cloverfield movie, or even take the franchise in a shocking new direction.

Ultimately, it's hard to escape the suspicion that The Cloverfield Paradox was an original script transformed into a Cloverfield movie late in the day, much like 10 Cloverfield Lane.

While this worked surprisingly well for the previous film in the series, here it feels much less certain, with the references to prior incidents in this universe sure to leave fans sharply divided.

It will generate debate, which is undeniably good for the brand moving forward, but most of its interactions with the prior movies feel puddle-deep and not particularly well thought-out.

But with the negatives now out of the way, here's everything that actually worked...
