The Dark is Rising has been picked up by 20th Century Fox and a couple of interesting actors have been signed up....

Christopher Eccleston will be starring as the movie's villain The Rider. Newcomer
Alexander Ludwig will be leading the movie as the young kid who
"discovers he's the last of a line of warriors dedicated to fighting the forces of "The Dark" Fantasy movies are so over-saturated these days, and another fantasy movie about a young kid may be too soon after
Eragon. We shall see. Anyone read these books, are they any good? source -
