The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Easy Ways To Fix Its Biggest Flaws

9. Talia's Supernatural Knowledge

The Problem Not only does Talia know that Bruce Wayne is Batman, she also knows the exact location of Waynetech's secret R & D department where Lucius Fox keeps all of Batman's trinkets. Neither is explained. How To Fix It The logical key to solving this problem, and also tying up another loose end in the Nolan universe would have been the return of Coleman Reese, who may have decided to keep Bruce Wayne's secret as thanks for saving his life (and who is probably in self-imposed exile to stop Batman's enemies coming to beat the information out of him,) but who could well be findable for someone with Talia's resources and commitment. She had ample time to find Reese and extract the information about Wayne's secret after all, and that would be a better solution to the problem than the implication that her father somehow passed the information on to her off screen. The R& D Department question is less easily dealt with, since only Lucius knew of its whereabouts, and not even Reese could help: but it would have been far more beneficial to the plot, and the Bruce Wayne's revival, if Bane had personally extracted that information from Fox. That might sound like an awful lot of torture for one film, but the Reese sequence needn't have been shown, and it would have tied a knot in that particular narrative thread, and the threat to Wayne's close friends, as realised in Fox's torture would have been the perfect inspiration for Wayne dragging himself out of the pit at all costs.
