The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Mysteries The Film Must Answer

6. What Happened to Ra€™s Al Ghul?

Any fan of the Batman comics will know that the Head of the Demon doesn€™t really go down all that easy. In fact each time he dies or gets close to death he rejuvenates himself with a Lazarus Pit: a natural basin full of glowy goo that basically brings people back from the dead. But as Stephen King€™s Pet Semetary points out, sometimes dead is better. Each time the pit resurrects a person it takes away a piece of their personality. Hence why Ra€™s Al Ghul is a homicidal maniac bent on mass murder and such. Again, we know that in Nolan€™s hyper-realistic Batworld Ra€™s Al Ghul probably isn€™t immortal but surely he can€™t have been dispatched with that much ease? He has a habit of supporting other villains in the pursuit of their goals, so would it be such a leap to imagine that Ra€™s could be supporting Bane in TDKR? I don€™t know. Maybe. All I know for sure is that expecting a long standing Batfan to accept that Ra€™s Al Ghul is dead and gone is a big ask.
