The Dark Knight Rises: 20 Things You Didn't Know

2. Ra€™s al Ghul Returns

Ra's Al Ghul One of the (arguable) triumphs of The Dark Knight Rises was the way it managed to bring back virtually all the various narrative/character strands of the trilogy, from small cameos by Cillian Murphy (as the Scarecrow) and John Nolan (as Wayne Enterprises board member Fredericks) to a brief hallucination Bruce has in Bane€™s prison, where his former mentor, Ra€™s al Ghul (the great Liam Neeson) appears to him. Liam Neeson€™s reappearance in Nolan€™s Batman world proved to be as startling and confusing for him as it was for Bruce Wayne. €œI went and shot a scene for two hours with Christian Bale,€ Neeson recalled after the shoot. €œI said, €˜Chris, what am I doing?€™ €˜Um€well, just walk forward, and say the lines, walk back, and that€™ll be it, really.€ I said, €˜What the f_ck? Tell me the story!€™ €˜Um€I€™d prefer not to, really.€™ €˜Okay, don€™t mind me. I€™m just an actor.€™€ Welcome to the secretive world of Christopher Nolan, where even the people in the movie don€™t know what it€™s about.
