Updated: As you guys have said in the comments this has proven to be fake. Interestingly, 42 Entertainment who worked on the Why So Serious viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight
have revealed that they haven't yet been asked by Warner Bros. to work on
The Dark Knight Rises. Not yet anyway.
I was just contacted by someone who works with 42 Entertainment who tells me that all the major individuals (producers, writers, etc.) who worked on the Why So Serious campaign are in fact still with the company. Also, although 42E is not currently working on the TDKR campaign, Warner Bros. could still contact them later on. Given that the film isnt set to release in theaters until July 20, 2012, the studio has some time to decide if they want work with 42E again.
A youtube account going by the name of
The Fire Rises (which you will remember was the same as the Twitter account where our first look at
Tom Hardy as Bane came from) has posted two videos which many are calling viral marketing ads for
Christopher Nolan's currently filming
The Dark Knight Rises. Take a look at them below but be warned, I'm putting a
SPOILER ALERT on them.
(P.S. - also be wary when looking around for Batman related news right now, there's something that I would personally deem a spoiler and something I didn't want to read about that was forced upon me 10 mins ago by a website). The first video is dated May 28th and has the same chanting as what appeared on the official website some weeks ago. It appears to be something kind of ritual inspired break-out of prison, perhaps Arkham Asylum? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKEV8XEZ5yI The second is dated May 30th and seems to confirm the above with a return of Mike Engel (
Anthony Michael Hall) from Gotham Tonight? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAfEgGaRmis
