The Dark Knight Rises Sequel: 9 Actors Who Could Be The Joker

3. Elijah Wood

Sometimes in the comic books, the Joker is real dark. He€™s chooses his words carefully, he€™s guttural and almost passive aggressive. That€™s the way Nolan interpreted him, and that€™s the way Ledger played him. And it was awesome. However, other versions of this age-old character have been portrayed as lighter, more maniacal and even playful (despite still being a murderin€™ psychopath of course). This is where Wood steps in. He€™s got that high pitched, almost whiny voice that you€™d associate more with Mark Hamill€™s classic Joker from the Animated Series and the Rocksteady video games. And if you remember how unsettlingly psychotic he looked while he smiled himself to death as the bespectacled Kevin in Sin City, you€™ll remember that he can do creepily happy very, very well indeed. Forget Frodo for a second and just imagine him with the white face, the green hair and the purple suit. I personally think that€™s pretty close to the mark.
