9. The Priniciple Cast
The principle cast list of actors appearing across the trilogy could just as easily be placed in a period piece or prestige drama: Academy Award winners Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman along with Oscar nominee Gary Oldman. Four actors who would normally seem out of place in a comic book movie trilogy fit perfectly into Christopher Nolan's vision of reality and relationships rather than just incredulous, over the top action. Bale, in particular, embraced the challenge of portraying a comic book icon. While his throaty growl grew some criticism and mockery, it demonstrated a ferocity and anger in Batman not previously seen on screen.
