Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy is the apex of the superhero genre. All three entries were well received by fans and critics upon release, and The Dark Knight is regarded by many as one of the greatest films of all time.
After the disasters that were Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, The Dark Knight Trilogy revitalised the franchise and brought Batman back into the mainstream for a new generation. The laughable dialogue and the pantomime costumes were replaced with well-written characters and a rugged, realistic environment.
Nolan’s vision was heightened still further by a terrific cast. Christian Bale was the perfect choice to play Bruce Wayne, and he was supported by a number of other great performances, the most noteworthy of which was Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight.
As such, the trilogy has been watched countless times by both fans of the genre and by those simply looking for some quality entertainment. Indeed, very few film franchises have the level of re-watchability that The Dark Knight Trilogy has.
