"Pain" follows two close friends, one a police detective and the other a private detective, who team to investigate the murder of the cop's father-in-law. As the investigation proceeds, they uncover evidence that shows that nothing is as it appears. The original Hong Kong movie was only released last year and it was made by the same team behind the awesome
Infernal Affairs on which the Oscar winning The Departed was based. Of course DiCaprio starred in
The Departed and Monahan adapted the script, which according to the trade, is also what is planned here. Interesting news then and it seems to be a common trend for people who worked on The Departed to want to work together again. No suprise after it did so well.... we'll keep an eye on this one to see who gets the directing gig. source -
