The Dude to show us some True Grit

It's over 6 months since we reported that the Coen Brothers next movie would see them producing a re-make of the 1969 classic True Grit.

Today, Variety announce that Jeff Bridges - who starred as The Dude in the Coen Brothers' The Big Lebowski back in 1998 - is lined up to take on the role that won John Wayne an oscar. Simon Gallagher certainly made his feeling's clear on the idea of the Coen's reimagining such an iconic Western back in March. But surely we can have faith in the Coen Brothers' to do the movie justice?
In it, a 14 year old girl tags along with an aging U.S. marshal and another lawman to track the outlaw who killed her father. The trail leads them into hostile Indian territory. The original told the story from Cogburn€™s vantage point, but the new version will work from the viewpoint of the young girl. Kim Darby played the young girl in the original, and Glen Campbell played the other lawman.
The Coen Brothers are currently at the Toronto Film Festival for the premiere of their latest movie A Serious Man.
