The Emoji Movie Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

6. A Talented Cast Is Completely Wasted

It would be absurd to try and pretend that the movie's cast isn't jam-packed full of talented people, because it absolutely is. Alongside the brilliant T.J. Miller, the movie stars James Corden, Anna Faris, Maya Rudolph, Steven Wright, Jennifer Coolidge, Patrick Stewart (but more on him later), Christina Aguilera, SofĂa Vergara, Sean Hayes, Jeff Ross and Rob Riggle.

That's a lot of funny people crammed into any film, animated or not, but they're left stranded with Z-list material that asks them to do little beyond speak the lines, and the lack of enthusiasm on display from the majority of the cast is absolutely staggering.

Only James Corden really gives a particularly energetic performance, but again, he's working with nothing, so it's basically for naught.
