2. Hitchcock (2012)
While not a sequel to Psycho, Hitchcock is nonetheless an important chapter in the continuing evolution of the Psycho franchise. It tells the story of the making of the original Psycho while examining the relationship between the famed director and his wife, Alma, who was far more involved in Hitchcocks career than most people realize. Anthony Hopkins, in prosthetic makeup, is eerily convincing as the iconic director. Helen Mirren plays Alma. The biopic reveals the struggles Hitchcock endured in getting the picture made, how it was cast, and offers audiences an interpretation of some of the behind the scenes stories and legends that many fans of the film are familiar with. The film manages to include a number of juicy nuggets for fans: references to candy corn, the backstory to the scenes that were shot on set while Hitch was home in bed, and Hitch's challenges behind the camera while shooting the famous shower scene.
