The Fast & The Furious: Ranking Every Movie From Worst To Best

1. Fast Five (2011)

There isn't a franchise active in this universe that wouldn't benefit from the addition of The Rock, and so it was for Fast Five. Infuriating name aside, the sequel is the absolute peak of the series, reinventing everything we had come to expect from it, and turning a street racing franchise into a straight up heist franchise.

Imagine how bold you have to be to mess with the formula so fundamentally after FOUR films.

There's lots to love here: Agent Hobbs is a very strong addition who would go on to basically share top billing, the action is delightfully silly and spectacular and the chemistry between the cast is absolutely perfect. The film-makers dial down the vague excuses to have races, instead making it more of a caper on four wheels, with Justin Lin's joy for set-pieces working incredibly well.

This is not only the best film in the franchise, it's the keystone project - the one that set the model for what will no doubt be at least ten sequels. Its importance can never be downplayed, but the fact that it delivers so well on entertainment factor is arguably just as crucial.
