The Flash Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Not Enough Supergirl

The Flash Supergirl
Warner Bros.

Sasha Calle gives a strong performance in this movie as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, though the film also leaves fans wanting to see so much more of her by the time it wraps up.

Supergirl doesn't show up until the end of the second act, and though she immediately cuts an ass-kicking presence, her screen time is ultimately relatively limited for the remainder of the movie.

More to the point, she only barely feels like a character here - we learn almost nothing about her as a person, ensuring she's basically a thin sketch of a superhero, albeit one performed with gusto by Calle.

The promise and potential was absolutely there, but with Calle unlikely to return as Supergirl in James Gunn's DCU, it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity to make her role here so damn piecemeal.
