John Gage mentions the weather outside the Haberdashery being a "white hell", which is a throw-away line, but it's so deliberately delivered that its importance is insisted. That's because the line calls back to the White Hell Of Pitz Palu, a film mentioned in Inglourious Basterds and which gives Archie Hicox his German cover's home town.
