The Hateful Eight New Trailer: 5 Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

2. Michael Madsen's Reservoir Dogs Role Reversal

One of the more famous scenes in Quentin Tarantino's debut film, Reservoir Dogs, saw Michael Madsen's psychotic Mr. Blonde torturing a cop just for the sake of it. It's without a doubt the most memorable scene in the entire flick (and the most controversial), as Mr. Blonde dances around to Stealers Wheel's Stuck In The Middle With You before cutting off said cop's ear with a razor blade whilst he's strapped to a chair. With that in mind, does that very brief shot in the new trailer with Madsen's character, Joe Gage, sitting on a chair looking anxious whilst Samuel L. Jackson looms behind him with a small knife to his neck, look familiar? If you said "No," you probably haven't seen Reservoir Dogs. Essentially, it's a subtle homage to that very violent scene in Tarantino's debut - only this time Madsen is the one looking terrified in the chair. It's a neat little reference to the Tarantino-verse, and one that nicely links Madsen to his most famous Tarantino role: Vic Vega.
