The Hateful Eight Star Joins Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant

Bob the Mexican... in space!

Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight) has landed a coveted role in Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien inbetween-quel, Alien: Covenant, according to Deadline. He'll be joining a returning Michael Fassbender, back for more android hijinx as severed-head David, along with the recently added Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride(!?). Not returning is Noomi Rapace, contrary to what Deadline have listed in their exclusive report on this latest casting. Prometheus divided audiences back in 2012, with some digging the modernist take on the franchise and all the new details that Scott added to the Alien-verse and its characters. Yet for every rather bashful fan of the prequel, you can easily find a few more who hated it. With the impending sequel naming itself after the first film in the iconic series, you can expect a shift away from all the things that made Prometheus, well, Prometheus - apart from Michael Fassbender of course. That said, there's always been an android in every Alien film anyway, so why break from tradition? All that's known about the story is that Waterston plays a character called Daniels, who is travelling aboard a colony ship; happening across what looks to be a beautiful, oasis-like paradise evidently soon turns out to be Planet Horror, on which the only humanoid resident is the aforementioned shifty synthetic David. Expect there to also be a ton of Xenomorphs there, too. Alien: Covenant is due for release on 6th October 2017.
