The Hobbit: 6 Mis-Castings That Ruined It (And 4 That Were Perfect)

1. Barry Humphries - Great Goblin

Hobbit Great Goblin

An inspired choice, in terms of voice acting, Barry Humphries brought life and vitality to a completely CGIed character that could have been completely off-putting, and his vocal performance really added to the characterisation of the wonderfully grotesque Great Goblin.

Some critics would no doubt have preferred the Great Goblin to be a character in a suit, but the character design was spot on - it had the desired disgusting effect - and Humphries (who also memorably voiced Bruce the Shark in Finding Nemo) really brought the character to life.
