6. Bard Will Be Fierce
Depending on just what content is in the Extended Edition of An Unexpected Journey (well timed for release a month or so before the sequel) serious fans may have already met Bard The Bowman, but the most part audiences will be new to this incredibly important character. The man who will soon rival Legolas for having impeccable aim with an bow makes his big screen debut in Desolation Of Smaug as a defender of LakeTown. And from the trailer it promises to be quite an entrance. We got a taste of what Lucas Evans would be doing in the teaser, but as with most aspects this has been considerably expanded upon this time around. From what I can tell all of his scenes come from a heated exchange between him and Thorin discussing the quest to reclaim the mountain. We know how stubborn the king of the dwarves can be which promises a great showdown. After varying success in bringing some of the books characters to the screen (Gollum = good, Goblin King = less so) the latest trailer suggests the bigger roles will be well serviced; Evans doesnt seem to be holding back.
