The Hobbit Quiz: How Well Do You Remember The Desolation Of Smaug?
The journey to the Lonely Mountain is almost complete, what lies in store for the party?
Following An Unexpected Journey we have hit the middle section of The Hobbit trilogy, seeing Bilbo tag along with Thorin and the dwarves as they travel to the lonely mountain on a quest to reclaim their home from Smaug the Terrible. The final shot of Unexpected Journey showed the dwarves standing on pride rock (sorry, there were some very strong Lion King vibes), staring at a now-within-reach destination. All in all, a very good teaser for the next instalment, where we also looked forward to the meeting of Bilbo and Smaug.
The second instalment continued the aspect of "Going on an adventure!" with various encounters and threats similar to the second of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, but didn't go for all out battle, instead focusing strongly on dialogue between Smaug and Bilbo. This emphasised that Benedict Cumberbatch's Smaug was more than just a beast, and indeed very intelligent. Oh, then we got the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers, so thanks to Mr. Jackson for that.
