The Hobbit Trilogy: 10 Worst CGI Moments
9. Chase In The Goblin Tunnels
The first real indication that something was wrong with these movies was the big chase sequence in the Goblin Tunnels. Visually, the animated goblins weren't half bad. Jackson and his team clearly put a huge amount of effort into designing a new and unique breed of creatures. They looked like a bunch of naked sewer rats, accustomed to a life in the dank confines of the Misty Mountains.
The issue was, the Misty Mountains didn't look all that bleak. The tunnels were lit by a warm glow and the goblins had constructed fairly sophisticated and comfortable looking structures; it looked less like grim lair, and more like a kids play park.
But that wasn't the major issue. We were subjected to a cartoon chase sequence with all manor of ridiculous occurrence happening along the way. You had goblins swinging from ropes and dwarves bouncing off the walls. But the clincher came when the dwarves shamelessly re-enacted a scene from Looney Tunes by tumbling a giant boulder in front them as they fled.
