The Hunger Games: 10 Massive Spoilers For The Final Two Movies

6. Katniss Gets Shot

Katniss' inner conflict forms a huge part of the storyline throughout Mockingjay. She doesn't know whether she's doing the right thing by supporting Coin and the District 13 cause, especially given their rather lax attitude to protecting Peeta. In order to conquer the Capitol, rebel forces use an explosion to cut off the Nut, which is a mountain in District 2 that houses the majority of the Capitol's military operations. Katniss is able to convince Gale, who is in charge of the operation, to leave a single train tunnel open to allow rebel spies the chance to escape the Nut. When Katniss begins to make a resounding speech outside the district's Justice Building, trains arrive and Katniss finds herself with a gun pointed at her. She can't give the man a reason not to shoot, and she finds herself cut down by a bullet from the crowd. Cinna's bulletproof suit saves her, but Katniss must undergo physical rehabilitation before she can be seen on screen or take part in active duty again. It's a turning point in Katniss' relationship with the rebellion and a really shocking moment in the book.
