The Hunt Review: 8 Ups & 5 Downs

1. The First 15 Minutes Are GLORIOUS

Betty Gilpin The Hunt
Universal Pictures

You could have guessed this already from the earlier point in the negatives, but the opening of The Hunt is the biggest feather in its cap.

It's bloody, brutal, silly and sadistic and it's exhilarating to watch. There are twists and harrowing moments alongside laugh out loud moments and this is where the idea and all of the subsequent twists and character work are born.

If you watch this film for one thing only, make it this first opening 15 minutes. It's destined to go down in history for sites like ours as the best opening sections of films that don't quite live up to it. You heard it here first.
