The Hunt Review: 8 Ups & 5 Downs

4. The Script Is Mostly Horrible

The Hunt Betty Gilpin
Universal Pictures

The best thing about The Hunt is that its fundamental idea is a razor sharp trolling idea that is enough to make you laugh even thinking about it. Hell, it worked even before the film came out - the studio must have been DELIGHTED when it was banned initially.

One of the worst things about it is the specifics of the script. The outline plays well, the character models and motivations are good (and yes, it's absurd but THAT IS THE POINT, Karen), but pretty much everything that comes out of someone's mouth is absolute garbage.

It's like a script written by a half-arsed committee at times and a few clicks up on the refinement dial would have done it wonders.
