The INSANE Venom Movie That Nearly Got Made
1. The Future Of Venom (And Josh Trank)
Trank has kept fairly quiet since the release of Capone in mid-2020, though is apparently developing a CIA TV series set to star Tom Hardy. However, it wouldn't be remotely surprising if this fell through in light of both Capone's reception and Hardy's busy schedule.
Speaking of which, the future at least seems brighter for Venom - recent sequel Let There Be Carnage was an incremental improvement upon its predecessor and a commercial success, while both it and Spider-Man: No Way Home teased a potential future showdown with Tom Holland's Spider-Man.
We know that Venom 3 will go into production in the near-future, and given the popularity of Hardy as the character it doesn't seem likely he'll be hanging it up any time soon.
We probably won't see Venom in any places as artistically intriguing as Trank's original left-field pitch, but hopefully Sony will at least steer clear of the 2018 movie's aggressive mediocrity from now on.
