The Lego Batman Movie Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

4. The Animation Is Superb

Unsurprisingly, this is a gorgeously-animated film much like The Lego Movie, making the most of its stop motion-esque style and firm commitment to ensuring everything that happens actually looks like a Lego block (even explosions).

The film is much more action-heavy than The Lego Movie and to that end the animators get to show off a much larger slice of their visual skill-set. Again it may not have quite the same "wow" factor as it did in the original movie, but the character expressions (especially of The Joker) and the "set design" of the Batcave are real stand-outs.

As a visual experience, this clears the already high bar set by The Lego Movie.
